About Cape House Construction
Three decades of craftsmanship, rooted in Cape Cod
Craftsmanship Rooted in Cape Cod
Originally from Santa Barbara, California, German Ruiz first learned the building trade on the West Coast before bringing his skills to Cape Cod in the early 1990s. He started swinging a hammer — first as a carpenter's apprentice, then as a licensed contractor, and eventually as the founder of Cape House Construction. What began as a one-man operation has grown into one of the Cape's most respected custom home builders, but the philosophy has never changed: build every home as if your name is on the mailbox.
Over three decades, Cape House Construction has built more than 200 homes across all 15 towns of Cape Cod. From $5 million waterfront estates in Chatham to cozy year-round cottages in Harwich, every project receives the same meticulous attention to detail. We don't do volume building — we do custom work, one home at a time.
Cape Cod isn't just where we build — it's where we live. German's family has called the Cape home for three generations. That local knowledge matters: understanding the salt air's effect on materials, navigating each town's unique permitting requirements, knowing which subcontractors deliver and which ones don't. You can't learn that from a textbook.
We hold a Massachusetts Construction Supervisor License and Home Improvement Contractor registration, carry full liability and workers' compensation insurance, and maintain EPA Lead-Safe Certification. But credentials are just the baseline — it's the work that speaks.
Our Team
The people behind every Cape House Construction project
German Ruiz
Owner & President
Originally from Santa Barbara, California, where he first learned the building trade, German has been building on Cape Cod for over thirty years. A master carpenter by craft, he founded Cape House Construction with the belief that every home — regardless of size or budget — deserves meticulous craftsmanship. German also draws up plans and designs, guiding clients from concept through construction. He personally oversees every project from first meeting to final walkthrough.
Michael Santos
Project Manager
Mike manages day-to-day project coordination, scheduling, and subcontractor relations. With 15 years of construction management experience on the Cape, he ensures every project stays on track and on budget. His background in structural engineering gives him a sharp eye for quality control.
David Correia
Site Superintendent
David runs the job site. A licensed carpenter with expertise in both new construction and historic renovation, he leads our field crews and coordinates the dozen-plus trades involved in a custom home build. His attention to detail is what turns plans into finished homes.
Sarah Mitchell
Client Relations Manager
Sarah is the primary point of contact for homeowners throughout the build process. She manages selections, coordinates design decisions, and provides weekly updates so clients always know exactly where their project stands.
